How Sculptra and PRF Work Together to Revitalize the Skin

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, accounting for 30% of total protein. This building block is essential for providing structure, strength, and support to nearly every body part, from the skin to blood vessels and organs. After age 20, we lose approximately 1% of collagen each year, so we experience a loss of skin elasticity and fullness. If you’re hoping to address collagen loss, Sculptra was explicitly developed for this purpose. It’s the first FDA-approved poly-L-lactic acid injectable that acts as a biostimulator to increase collagen levels. Sculptra is incredibly effective, but it takes time to notice results. If you’d like to augment the results and notice improvements more quickly, we recommend pairing this treatment with platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections. We offer both of these cutting-edge services at our med spa in Denver! Here, we share how these two biostimulators complement each other.

How Sculptra Works

Sculptra gives you glowing skin from within through the power of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA-SCA). Its formulation stimulates natural collagen production that continues to build with time. The critical ingredient builds up a framework designed to support and maintain the structure within the skin, often leading to a more youthful-looking appearance. Sculptra targets the cheek and jawline region and can firm and smooth this entire area. Results typically become noticeable within one month and can last up to two years.

How PRF Works

We’re excited to offer platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) injections in the spa. PRF is created from your blood, so there’s virtually no allergic reaction or rejection risk. First, one of our registered nurses will perform a quick blood draw. Your sample will be sent to the lab and spun at a low speed in a centrifuge. The result is a gel-like solution that contains a high level of platelets, leukocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). The PRF will release growth factors over an extended period, which encourages faster recovery from treatments such as microneedling. Additionally, the PRF gel acts as an all-natural filler that boosts the skin’s volume.

Sculptra and PRF injections work synergistically to provide the best anti-aging benefits. Both cosmetic injectables are long-lasting, and although Sculptra’s effects take some time to appear, volume from PRF is noticeable more quickly. We’d love to see you at our med spa in Denver if you'd like to explore combining these two powerful treatments. To book your consultation, please contact our team.
