Our Top 5 Tips For Men’s Skincare

Skincare is for everyone! When you take good care of your skin, it will return the favor. If you’re not currently covering the basics, it’s never too late to start. Creating a skincare regimen doesn’t have to be time-consuming, and we’re here to help you find a routine that works for you. Here, we share our top five skincare tips for men. Understand Your Skin Type

Understanding your skin type is an important step to help you select the best products for your needs. If you don’t know what your skin type is, no worries! Here’s an overview:

  • Sensitive: Individuals with sensitive skin may notice a stinging or burning sensation after using certain products.

  • Normal: this skin type is generally clear and not sensitive to many ingredients.

  • Dry: dry skin is often flaky, rough, or itchy (especially in our climate).

  • Oily: oily skin is typically shiny and doesn’t feel dry.

  • Combination: combination skin is oily in some areas and dry in others.

Wear SPF Outdoors

Wearing sunscreen is another element of skincare that’s critical for everyone. Protecting your skin with SPF is the most important step you can take to reduce your risk of skin cancer. To ensure that you’re covered, we recommend applying SPF first thing in the morning. If you’re going to be outside for several hours, you’ll need to reapply according to product directions. Cleanse Daily

Cleansing your face daily is an important step in any skincare routine. Ideally, you’ll find a cleanser best suited to your skin type (i.e., a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin). If you can commit to cleansing twice a day, that’s great! If not, just aim to wash your face in the morning and after exercising. Just avoid using bar soap, because it contains ingredients that can dry out the skin.

Moisturize Daily

To help your skin look and feel its best, daily moisturization is a must. A moisturizer works by trapping water within the skin, helping to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. For best results, moisturize after showering or shaving. If desired, you can find a moisturizer that contains SPF for daytime use.

Fine-Tune Your Shaving Technique

Men who shave often find that multi-blade facial razors can cause uncomfortable razor burn or razor bumps. If you struggle with any of these issues, you may be able to remedy the problem by choosing a single or double-blade razor. Be sure not to stretch the skin taut, and always use shaving cream. It also helps to shave in the direction of hair growth and follow up with a moisturizer.

Skin is the largest organ of the body, so it’s important to properly care for it. By following a few simple steps, you can reduce your risk of skin cancer and enjoy healthier skin.
