Tips For Combating Dry Skin in Colorado's Climate

There’s a lot to love about living in Colorado, but there’s no question that our climate can take a toll on the skin. Our state’s elevation, abundance of sunshine, and dramatic swings in temperature mean that residents need to be on top of their skincare game to keep it looking and feeling its best. Whether you’re a recent transplant or a longtime resident of the Centennial State, you may need some tips for combating dry skin. At our Denver medical spa, one of the most common concerns we treat is dry skin–so you’ve come to the right place for help! Here, we share some of our top recommendations to help you keep your skin hydrated and feeling fantastic:

Create a Skincare Routine That You’ll Stick To

The cornerstone of great skin at any age is a skincare regimen that works for your unique needs. There’s no substitute for at-home skincare, so designing a routine you’ll stick with is paramount. If you need some guidance, we cover skincare basics here. In the fight against dry skin, a heavy-hitting moisturizer is a must. Need some recommendations that are both gentle and effective? Take a look at some of our favorite moisturizers. For an added layer of protection, consider including a serum or two in your skincare routine. Serums are lighter than moisturizers and are great for targeting specific concerns, such as dryness. We carry award-winning serums in our medspa, which you can learn more about here

Never Skip Sun Protection

As a Coloradan, chances are you spend a lot of time outside. Even if you’re not into the outdoors, sun protection is still non-negotiable for skin health. Sun-exposed skin is more susceptible to dryness because UV rays quickly deplete essential oils that we need for moisture. Before stepping outside each morning, apply SPF (preferably at least SPF 30) and re-apply throughout the day. For extra protection against dry skin, choose a moisturizing SPF.

Enhance Your Routine With Occasional Treatments

If you’re sticking with your skincare regimen, protecting yourself from the sun with SPF, and drinking plenty of water, it can be disappointing to still struggle with dry skin. If your skin isn’t as hydrated as you’d like, our team is here to help. We offer many treatments to alleviate dry skin, including the popular Hydrafacial and injectable moisturizer SKINVIVE.

If you love living in Colorado but are tired of struggling with dehydrated skin due to our climate, try the tips we discussed here. At our Denver medical spa, our passion is to help each client achieve their ideal skin–and we can do the same for you! We offer services to suit every skin type, and we’ll begin with a consultation to get a comprehensive understanding of your skin and goals. Ready to schedule your first appointment?
