We share everything you need to know for your first appointment here:

How to Prepare

Botox and fillers are injectable aesthetic treatments that can help you achieve your ideal look by “filling in” lines or preventing them from developing. Although these injections are safe and effective, there are some steps you should take to ensure that you’re getting the best results. Here are some things to keep in mind before coming in for your first injections:

  • Schedule your appointment at least four weeks before an important event, such as a wedding or vacation. This will allow time for the full effects to become noticeable and for your skin to heal.

  • Speak with your medical team to ensure that Botox or fillers are right for you. Other treatments may be safer for individuals who take medications such as blood thinners.

  • Avoid taking NSAIDs such as ibuprofen at least four days before your appointment.

  • Abstain from drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before your injections.

  • Ensure your skin is prepped for the procedure by staying out of the sun and avoiding hot tubs, saunas, etc., for at least 24-48 hours before your appointment.

  • Refrain from getting abrasive treatments such as chemical peels or microneedling in the days leading up to your injections.

  • Care for your skin with a gentle cleanser.

How to Care For Your Skin After Injections

Although many clients are worried that Botox or fillers are painful, most patients don’t feel more than a slight pinching sensation. This is because we use ultra-fine needles for the injections, and the solution contains lidocaine for numbing. Once your injections are complete, you should take proper care to speed up healing and reduce side effects. Your nurse injector will remind you to do the following after your appointment:

  • Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure from saunas or hot tubs for 24 hours.

  • Expect results to become apparent after a few days. You may notice improvements within a few hours after the appointment, but the full effects will take about 14 days to appear.

  • Wait a day to return to exercising.

  • Avoid facials, microdermabrasion, and microneedling for at least 14 days after treatment.

  • Skip the retinol for a few days following your injections.

Botox and fillers offer exceptional, long-lasting results for age-related skin concerns. If you look forward to achieving smooth, youthful-looking skin, these treatments are worth exploring. Before your first appointment, we’d like to see you for a consultation at our medispa in Denver. We’ll assess your unique skin and create a customized plan during this evaluation.
