Botox 101: Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Appointment

If you’re ready to achieve your ideal aesthetic, you may be curious about Botox. Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world, with more than 6 million injections performed each year. Botox has reached widespread popularity for its safety and incredible results, and continues to be the number one selling product of its kind. If you’re interested in Botox because you’ve heard about its amazing ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, we’re here to give you all the details before your appointment at our medspa in Denver. Here, we share a comprehensive overview about this product and how to determine if it’s right for you:

What is Botox?

Botox is the first FDA-approved treatment to temporarily reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. When performed by an experienced injector, Botox is the gold standard for delivering beautiful results that look natural.

Botox is actually a brand name, and the substance that’s injected is botulinum toxin. This neurotoxin temporarily relaxes facial muscles, resulting in smoother, more youthful-looking skin. A common fear (and misconception) is that this treatment will make your face look frozen. We’re here to let you know that this is absolutely not the case, and Botox done right looks completely natural.  You can still have a full range of facial expressions after Botox!

How Long Do Results Last?

After your first injection, you’ll probably begin to notice results within just a few hours. The full effect becomes more noticeable after about two weeks, and will generally last four to six months. Keep in mind that this cosmetic treatment is temporary, so if you want to maintain the results, you’ll need to come in for touch-ups on a regular schedule.

Are There Any Side Effects?

In addition to “frozen face” fears, we’re commonly asked about side effects. At Vive, we only hire the most experienced nurse injectors. Your Botox injections will be given with an ultra-fine needle and combined with lidocaine, which is a numbing agent. Many of our patients don’t experience any side effects, but a few may notice mild redness or bruising around the injection site.

If you’re interested in achieving younger-looking skin, Botox is a fantastic option. We want you to feel completely comfortable during your appointments, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. The team at our medspa in Denver aims to provide an unparalleled experience and results that you’ll love! To book your first appointment, please contact us.
